LAZLO'S ALBUM OF THE WEEK

Timmy Sean - "songs from & inspired by noisewater"

"Former Luzer frontman, Timmy Sean, begins his solo debut with an intro of harmonies similar to those his former band wowed audiences with. Timmy then obliterates his past with an album chock full of big 70's rockers that would sound perfectly at home besides classic bands like Electric Light Orchestra, Queen, and Wings. It was no surprise that when I went to his MySpace page those three bands were among his influences (along with Brian Wilson, Ben Folds, Jon Brion, Dave Grohl, STP, and The Beatles).

"Songs from & inspired by noisewater", took four years to make, and Timmy wrote, performed, arranged, produced, and mixed the album almost entirely on his own. That can be a recipe for disaster, but the end prodcut shows that clearly he knew what he was doing.

This album is more than just an homage to music that came out before he was born in the mid 80's, it's an infectious and fun album, not afraid to cut against the grain of today's popular music, for a classic sound. With any luck 30 plus years from now we'll still be talking about Timmy Sean's debut like we do about albums by his influences ." - Lazlo

After spending the early-to-mid 00's touring the country fronting the power pop band LUZER (and shortly thereafter The Celebrities), Timmy Sean has spent the last four years growing his beard and recording his first solo cd. Performing nearly every instrument heard on the record (including all of the drums, bass, guitar, percussion, and vocals), Timmy indulges nearly all of his influences, from Brian May of Queen on guitar, to Paul McCartney on bass, to Ben Folds on piano....often in the course of just one song.

Born in the mid 1980's, Timmy grew up in two worlds: the pop world of 90's and the classic rock 'n roll world of his uncles' legendary Beatles tribute show "Long Live The Beatles" (the longest touring Beatles tribute act in the world). Though Tim's songwriting with LUZER and The Celebrities pretty evenly mixed elements of both old and new, the scale on his first solo effort clearly leans more toward the sounds of Brian Wilson's "Smile" and McCartney's "Band On The Run", than anything released in the internet age.

With the exception of the drum tracks (which were engineered and produced by multi-platinum producer Kenny Gioia at General Studios in NYC), Tim not only performed 99% of the instruments on the record, but also wrote, arranged, produced, engineered, and mixed the tracks himself...a true "solo record" in every sense of the word.

With his first album barely dry, Timmy is jumping back into the modern pop world with his first project for Lowe Records, "Sir Video", due out in 2011, but has also already began demos for a follow-up solo record. If the pattern holds, you can expect it in 2018.
