Anthony Walker - "this city won't sleep"

Anthony Walker's country-fied (or is it country-fried?) songs create the feeling of walking through a dust-coated neighborhood, and coming upon a porch with a few people rocking back and forth on their chairs, instruments in hand, telling you all about a time and a place not wholly your own, but somehow everyone's at the same time. Is this the dust bowl, or just some town in New Jersey? Does it matter? You're in Mr. Walker's city. If this city won't sleep, as he says, then here's a good way to kill some time.

Rating: 7. I like the lilting swagger.

All who know Anthony Walker know he's got it all: the music; the stories; the voice; the charm. With his brand new album set for an April 2011 release, one of New Jersey's finest roots-rock songwriters is prepped to share his career-defining material with the world.

Walker's brand new LP, This City Won't Sleep (featuring his live band, The Medicine Chest), represents the complete Walker experience it's blues and rock; it's folk and soul; it's acoustic and electric; it's topical and deeply personal. Like some of his favorite artists before him (Neil Young, The Black Crowes), Walker has developed an instantly recognizable, contemporary sound that retains the timelessness of American roots music, past and present.

Having already hit multiple cross-country stops on previous tours (including the esteemed South by Southwest Festival), Walker will be hitting the road in the coming months and years. Keep your eyes and ears open.
