Another week gone by, and what a busy week it has been for me. As you can see, there has been a color change to this newsletter and blowupradio.com. It is one of many changes I am in the process of making to make blowupradio.com look better and be easier to surf.
Also added this week is the new Literature Corner. If you are a NJ writer, send your stuff to lazlo@blowupradio.com to be published on the site. I have added three of my many poems to the page this week and will add more next week. For those looking for my lighter side, read "rerun sickness", for those looking for the darker side of life, enjoy, "pretend" and "I wish I didn't mean to hurt you" (big thanks to Dave Murphy, who doesn't know (until now) that this poem was written after misremembering the chorus to his song, "I wish I could tell you"). Also on the page you will find a young talented poet named Laura Christiansen. Two of her many poems are up ("kisses", and "on appearances"), and there will be plenty more in the coming weeks.
In other news, I saw a few NJ bands this week. Two, don't play much around here anyomre, but when they do, boy do they put on a show. Blues Traveler rocked the Tradewinds last Tuesday, mixing their older material with stuff from their new album, Bridge. Bon Jovi played 2 nights over at Giants Stadium, and I was lucky enough to be in attendance for the first show (which is being broadcast on VH1 as I write this). It's amazing that a band can play for 2 and a half hours and not even come close to covering all their hits.
However, the biggest surprise for me was going to see Stutter play the Joey Ramone benefit concert at the Saint. These guys are a great punk rock band that put on a amazing live show. You can check them out for yourself (along with other local punk bands) at the Broadway Theater in Pitman, NJ on August 11th.
Well, there's lots more to say, but I think I've said enough for this week. More good things are on the way, so keep coming back to blowupradio.com.
One last note, it is now official that I will be presenting an award at the ASBURY MUSIC AWARDS. Come out and support the scene, Wednesday, August 8th at the Stone Pony.
