BlowUpRadio.com presents Folk You!

Message From Lazlo

What a series of shows the FOLK YOU! series has become. Amazing performances, great camaraderie, drink specials and just good times. Big thanks to everyone who made this month's show so much fun, the wonderful audience and the incredible performances by Chris Pierson, Jeff Devito (Particle Zoo), Alana Q (from Six to Eight Mathematics), and special thanks to Mike Random (also from Six to Eight Mathematics) for filling in on no notice and being part of the show.

Last month Upstage Magazine did a benefit in order to help fund the publication of the monthly local arts paper. On July 3rd, Jersey Beat will be holding the first of 2 benefit shows to help cover costs of publishing the seminal 'zine. It seems everywhere you turn the scene is hurting and in need of support both in financial terms and coming out to support one another.

It is with that in mind that I have to announce that BlowUpRadio.com will be doing it's first ever benefit. Now, I have never ever tried to profit off of doing this site, and I have no plans to profit off of this benefit show (or any other future benefit shows). The costs of running a website and internet radio station keep increasing and the Compilation CDs that we began distributing last month to spread local music to people that may otherwise never hear the wonderful music coming out of NJ's local music scene, these costs add up. In addition, I have been working hard to record bands' performances for the bands and for the purpose of archiving as many performances as possible for people to hear now and in the future. The minidisc recorder I currently use just died, requiring me to soon buy a new means to record shows with. Again, this will add even more money to a no-budget site/station. So I hope everyone understands that for these reasons I have decided to do a benefit for BlowUpRadio.com, and I hope everyone can come out to the Court Tavern on Friday August 20th to support BlowUpRadio.com. When we work together we can all make the scene a better place!

I'll have more info on the show in the weeks to come.

Peace,
Lazlo
