BlowUpRadio.com presents Folk You!
Click here to find out about the NJ Indie Music Fest

Message From Lazlo

Hey everybody,

This is it folks. This is the biggest week in the almost 4 year history of BlowUpRadio.com. Wednesday brings us the move of our acoustic Folk You! shows to it's brand new location, Shannon Lounge (just 2 and 1/2 blocks from the old location, Rodeo Ristra). And Saturday brings the first ever NJ Indie Music Fest to Centro Night Club in South Amboy.

This Wednesday, Oct. 20th, come join us for BlowUpRadio.com's Folk You!, in it's new larger space, Shannon Lounge. The show is still free and still features the best local musicians stripping down their tunes, so come out and support us in our new location. A larger location means we need a larger crowd to continue doing this wonderful series of shows that I know a large amount of you enjoy. I checked out Shannon Lounge yesterday to see what Ivy had done to make it similar in tone to Rodeo Ristra, and let me say that even though the room is bigger, the vibe of this space is so warm and cozy. It will be the perfect new home for the Folk You! series.

And the line-up to kick off at our new home couldn't be better:

Terri Rodriguez ~ You most likely heard Terri's beautiful vocals backing current Souls' Release vocalist, Josh Van Ness, on his solo record, "...still here", but Terri is quite the accomplished singer/songwriter in her own right. Come see her perform a rare show with Josh Van Ness backing her up.

Michelle Vecchione ~ Michelle is a blues singer with the heart and soul to sing with the same passion as Janis Joplin and Susan Tedeschi. Her personal lyrics become all the more meaningful in this stripped down environment.

Mark Linskey (Hudson Falcons) ~ Mark has been fronting the Hudson Falcons since 1998, making music described as a cross between Stiff Little Fingers, the Devil Dogs, and Bruce Springsteen. But Mark sometimes sheds away the big rock sounds of his band for a more singer/songwriter acoustic sound that is described as being in the realm of Bob Dylan meets Son Volt. But forget descriptions, just trust me that this is a performance you will not want to miss.

My Pocket Zoo ~ The "world's greatest ukulele boy band", proves why they are dubbed that when they strip the loud rock guitar for a pop lounge strums of the ukulele. If you have seen My Pocket Zoo before, then you know to expect the unexpected, if you have never seen MPZ, I can tell you the one thing that you will always find at an MPZ show is people having a lot of fun.

So come on down Wednesday night to Shannon Lounge for the first Folk You! show in our new home.

The show starts at 9pm sharp.
Shannon Lounge is located at 106 First Street,Hoboken, NJ.

I'll be shooting off another e-mail later this week about the HUGE NJ Indie Music Fest happening this Saturday night at Centro Night Club in South Amboy. But you can read all about it right now by going to www.njimf.com. This show is the start of something really big to revive the scene and it is so important for musicians and local music fans to come out and support this show which merges together 7 great local bands with lots of local music media sources. As I always say, "Band together, make change!"

You know what, I want people to come out and support the NJ Indie Music Fest so much, that I am going to give away 2 pairs of tickets right now for the big show. That's right, I'm going to pay for 4 people to go to this groundbreaking event (which by the way is a benefit for Jersey Jams, Jersey Cares).

If you want to win free passes to the NJ Indie Music Fest, simply shoot off an e-mail to Lazlo@BlowUpRadio.com and put in the subject line "I want to go to the NJ Indie Music Fest!" Contest is open to anyone 21 or older. Deadline for entries is 5pm Wed. Oct. 20th. 2 Winners will be picked and notified by e-mail. Good luck!

Peace,
Lazlo
