Message From Lazlo

Hey Everyone,

Apologies to all for not getting a real newsletter out to you last week. It's no fun having a sinus infection. Thanks to everyone who sent me get well e-mails, I'm finished taking the antibiotic and I'm pretty much back to my normal self.

To those of you who have sent me e-mails that I haven't responded to yet, please be patient. Between being sick and having a lot of extra stuff to do outside of this website, (for those who don't know I am getting married in a little over a month), has put me behind on e-mail correspondance.

Well, this is the first week in a while I don't have to use this space to plug a BlowUpRadio.com show because we aren't sponsoring any shows this weekend, but check out the concert picks as there are plenty of great shows happening this week (and we are sponsoring a great show a week from Friday at the Loop Lounge).

So with no show to plug, I thought I'd use to space to talk about BlowUpRadio.com's webcast.

Over the last 4 and a half years BlowUpRadio.com has expanded greatly from the initial internet radio station that I started on Dec. 15th, 2000. We didn't even have a website for the first few weeks and then when we did, for many months it was simply 3 pages with a link to the webcast, a concert calendar and a list of band links.

While BlowUpRadio.com has grown into something much larger than the initial little webcast, the internet radio station is still the crux of what we are. I know that many of you listen, and I thank you for that, and if you are someone who enjoys the site but hasn't checked out our webcast, I urge you to do so.

* Our webcast contains local music from hundreds of NJ based indie bands crossing many music genres.

* Each week interspersed into the webcast are songs from our Album of the Week.

* You can also hear rare, unreleased and live tracks from some of your favorite local artists that you can't hear anywhere else

* You can vote for what you like and don't like and have a say in what BlowUpRadio.com plays.

That's right, you have some say in what BlowUpRadio.com plays!

How many stations truly give you that kind of power?

Here's how you vote:

Go to our webcast on Live365 and click on "play" to listen to us.

When the player window comes up you should see what song is playing and the last few songs played. next to each song is a "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" picture. If you like the song, click the "thumbs up", if you don't like the song click the "thumbs down".

It's that simple!

Every week or so I check to see how all the songs are doing, and songs with really low ratings often times are replaced by other songs with the hopes of them being more popular.

Conversely, songs with really high ratings can lead to other songs from the same band being added to the webcast.

So don't just tune in to BlowUpRadio.com, utilize your right to vote to let us know what you want to hear!

Peace,
Lazlo

In the last ten years, we’ve seen the Internet give traditional entertainment companies a run for their money. An independent artist can now get worldwide distribution of recorded material without the help of TV or a major record label. But an exciting new turn stands to challenge even the most engaging of reality shows – the ability to broadcast live over the Internet while attaining real-time feedback. Singer/songwriter Jason Didner...(more)
