Hey Everyone, I want to start by thanking everyone involved with "Summer's Last Blast!" this past Saturday. The weather held out, and we had a great show. Thanks to SICA for giving us a venue to put the show on, and thanks to all the performers, Prosper, Meet Me In Montauk, Fairmont (Get Well Soon Andy!), Grover Kent, The Marbles (special thatnks to Mike for supplying the sound!), Green Machine, and the Folk You! performers, Chip Robertson, Mick Chorba, Jeff Devito, and Tommy Anton & Abby Cahn. I want to take a minute to tell you something unbelieveably kind that Tommy Anton & Abby Cahn are doing. This Saturday they are loading up both of their vans with donated supplies, rations and whatever stuff they have (or get donated to them) and driving both vans down to Houston, Texas (where Tommy was born), and giving them to people who have been displaced from their homes by the devastation of hurricane Katrina. Now doing that in and of itself is an extremely kind act, and way above and beyond what anyone could be expected to do, but they are going even further and doing more. Once they distribute all the supplies in both vans, they are going to give away their vans to two families who have lost everything. That type of generosity is so few and far between...the world would be a better place if we all were more like Tommy & Abby. Of course it's impossible for us to all be that genorous, but we can all do our part to help, and that's why on Wednesday night BlowUpRadio.com "bands together" with 90.5 the Night, and UpstageRadio.com to broadcast Banding Together - A Benefit for the Victims of Hurricane Katrina It was a lot of work putting this radio show together, but it was also probably one of the most meaningful things I've ever done. Please tune into one of the three stations Wednesday night at 8pm, and listen to the 33 local artists play some amazing live tunes, but also help those in need and donate what you can to a charity helping in the aftermath of this tragedy. ~~~
After that I feel silly promoting anything else, so I'm just going to let this banner say it all: Support Local Music! Support organizations helping those affected by the disaster of Hurricane Katrina! Peace, Lazlo *new posts* |

September 13th, 2005 Special Radio Broadcast to Help The Victims Of Hurricane Katrina On Monday August 29th we all watched in horror as hurricane Katrina made landfall hitting the Louisiana coast between Grand Isle and the mouth of the Mississippi River. We watched as it tore through New Orleans, Biloxi, Gulfport, Mobile, and other cities along the gulf coast. In the days after hurricane Katrina hit, and even today, we continue to see the footage of the devastation it left behind and the people who were affected by it. Just days after the hurricane hit, Lazlo from BlowUpRadio.com started making calls to local bands about arranging talent for a radio broadcast benefit show to help the victims of hurricane Katrina. He also contacted friends at UpstageRadio.com, and 90.5 the Night, about airing this special benefit show. The outpouring of support from the local music scene has become, "Banding Together: A Benefit For The Victims Of Hurricane Katrina"...(more) |
