Hi Everyone, It's Thanksgiving week, and BlowUpRadio.com is celebrating on Friday with another FREE concert Jim Testa For over 20 years, Jim Testa listened to other people's music and told you what he thought. Now it's your turn. The editor/publisher of JERSEY BEAT, one of the oldest and most well-respected music fanzines in America, has dusted off his guitar and returned to the stage with a second collection of his quirky, catchy, irreverent, witty, and sometimes sentimental pop tunes. "There Goes The Neighborhood" includes runaway hits like "Sally's Got A New Tattoo," about a grrl who gets a little too carried away at the tattoo & piercings parlor, and "Punk Rock Is Not Day Care," a savage indictment of the callow 'tweens turning Jim's precious punk scene into an episode of Lizzie McGuire. Jim appears as a solo singer/songwriter, with his friend John Raido on harmonica, and with the band Eisenhower at area venues throughout NYC and NJ. But you can almost catch him on the 4th Saturday of any month at the Charleston Bar & Grill in Williamsburg. The Village Voice says "quirky and catchy and a lot of fun." The Rev. Keith Gordon wrote that Jim's two EP's are "consistently charming, witty and fun to listen to." Greg Matherly of ARC magazine called it "straight up acoustic punk." But when Jim shows up with his guitar to play for you, you'll say, "There goes the neighborhood!" Arlan Feiles Im a Songwriter. and a Singer. I play on The Piano and the Guitar. I wish I was born in Memphis. Wish i could sing background for Aretha Play four hand piano with Ray And tell ghost stories around the campfire with Woody and HAnk and go drinkin with Bob Pollard again My Dog Theo is my best friend. Music is my mistress - Arlan Thomas Martin Songwriter Thomas Martin describes his music as "Americana with hooks." His original songs deliver fresh elements of country, folk, pop, and bluegrass, and his two CDs - The Flowers Fall and Under the Sun - have received attention in the US and in Europe. A native New Yorker, he's performed in venues such as CBGB's and Kenny's Castaways. He currently resides in Nashville, TN. Thomas has recently finished recording Electro-Magnetic. This is his first electric effort and he's joined by an incredible group of musicians affectionately known as The Martinis. Hope you can come out to this FREE show and help support the local music scene! Peace, Lazlo |
Grover Kent - running out of Ramones
4 of the most socially inept old men (ok 2 socially inept young men and me and Jay) playing a style of music that people claim is dead. Judging from the massive turnout at shows, maybe they are right. Or maybe we're just not the ERGS <3 Check us out, you'll probably like it... Click here for more info on the Album of the Month |
