Supporting New Jersey's Local Music Scene Since 2000

Album of the Month
Citizens Band Radio - "CBR"

Earlier this year I gave a glowing review to a 3 song EP that I received from New Jersey's Citizens Band Radio. Those three songs begin their brand new full length CD, "CBR". On it, they continue to blend bluegrass, mountain music, classic country, and southern rock into something beautiful. Pedal steel guitar and mandolin mixes with twangy vocals, and songs with classic country type titles like, "ole Kentucky whiskey blues", "my ramblin ways", and, "band of outlaws". Fans of artists like Merle Haggard, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Jayhawks, Old Crow Medicine Show, Warren Haynes, and even the Grateful Dead, will all likely find something on this CD that they will enjoy. "18 wheels" even sounds like a country infused gospel song. Citizens Band Radio may not save your soul, but they can certainly move it with their fine debut album.

Message From Lazlo

Hi Everyone,

First off, last week I announced that BLOWUPRADIO.COM'S ANNIVERSARY SHOW is Saturday December 8TH, well due to circumstances beyond my control, the show is now Friday December 7th. The show is to remain ay Buddie's Tavern. More info on that soon.

But this Wednesday (Nov. 14th) is the second to last Folk You! at the Goldhawk in Hoboken.

This show is also special because it brings a very rare solo acoustic performance from the lead singer of Hero Pattern, Jason Kundrath. Also on the bill are two great NYC musicians, Dan Rosen, the frontman of Second Dan, and Kurt Reifler.

As you know Upstage Radio has been one of the homes for Lazlo's Den, and that I have also been a big fan of Upstage Magazine, both of which were started by Gary Wien. It is with regret that inform you that after 4 years, Gary has decided to move on from Upstage.

The good news is, he is preparing to re-launch www.AsburyMusic.com this week, which will continue to bring you the same quality review, news, and internet radio station that Upstage had. But for a least a day or two, BlowUpRadio.com's Webcast will be the only place to hear Lazlo's Den.

And at LazlosDen.com you can read a new Notes From The Den, as well as listen to the entire interview with James Taylor (publisher of Shocked And Amazed) in the interview archive.

The latest BlowUpRadio.com Podcast features some of the artists nominated for the Asbury Music Awards (which takes place Saturday at the Stone Pony), as well as music from: Readymade Breakup, The Subterraneans, John Raido, Joe Harvard Band, double-breasted, Kate Hart, The Commons, Jonathan Andrew, and Jim Testa.

Click here to download the new podcast

Don't forget to check out BlowUpRadio.com & LazlosDen.com for a new live review of The Milwaukees and Arlan Feiles @ Freehold Raceway Mall

And for those wondering, I'm still on schedule for the new BlowUpRadio.com Webcast to premiere by Thanksgiving!

Peace,
Lazlo
