Hey Everyone,
This weekend is the 3rd annual Wave Gathering, featuring over 170 bands playing in 24 venues throughout Asbury Park from June 20th thru 22nd.
BlowUpRadio.com is once again proud to be a sponsor of this music festival.
All this week on Lazlo's Den I'll be spotlighting bands playing the Wave Gathering, and giving you a preview of the weekend's events.
This preview was supposed to include an interview with Gordon Brown, one of the organizers of the show, but a funny thing happened. Last Thursday we recorded this incredible 30 minute phone interview discussing the Wave Gathering. Shortly after finishing the interview my computer froze and when I rebooted the entire interview file was gone. Needless to say I was not happy.
However, I managed to remember much of what was discussed in the interview, and wrote up a Wave Gathering preview that you can read at BlowUpRadio.com.
And I will be sending out another e-mail later this week with BIG news regarding BlowUpRadio.com's involvement with the Wave Gathering this year.

The next BlowUpRadio.com Free Concert at Buddie's Tavern will be on Saturday June 28th and will feature sets by Agency, Keith Monacchio (from The Commons), and Matt Colligan.

There are too many good acts playing (sometimes unfortunately at the same time), for me to try to give specific picks. So got to www.WaveGathering.com and see the schedule for yourself.

ROADSIDE GRAVES, Mason Dixon, Twilight Progression - Moonlight Mile Studio, 123 Harrison St. Hoboken - 8 pm, $7, all ages
If you're not down in Asbury for Wave Gathering, Mike Moebius is putting on a show at his Moonlight Mile recording studio with the rootsy Americana of Jersey City's Roadside Graves, Brooklyn's Mason Dixon, and Twilight Progression, which features Billy Filo.

This week's picks for me obviously deals with the Wave Gathering Festival which will take place in Asbury Park from Friday through Sunday. I've got a preview up at http://www.asburymusic.com with customized schedules, artist information, and my choices for the weekend will be up in the next day or two.

Fresh off of the release of their debut CD, the Twilight Procession will perform at Moonlight Mile Studios in Hoboken along with the Roadside Graves. Fronted by longtime Jersey City scenester Billy Filo, the Twilight Procession cranks out some lo-fi grunge goodness, and the Graves are rumored to be working on some new material, which will hopefully make its way to your ears on Saturday as well.

And now it's time for this week's Pissed Off!
Not so much a "pissed off" this week as a remembrance...
As you all have likely heard by now, last Friday political news correspondent Tim Russert died at the young age of 58. This hit me hard because in a day and age when everyone who talks about news seems to give their opinions (including myself in this very column), Tim always played devil's advocate and asked both Republicans and Democrats the tough questions...and he did so without ever expressing his own opinion for or against someone.
Anyone who knows me knows I love following the news, and especially things going on in politics. On Sunday mornings I loved to wake up and watch Meet The Press. It's the only Sunday morning political news show I watched regularly, and it was because Tim was not only one of the best at what he does, but he always looked like he was having fun doing it. I never once got the feeling he'd rather be somewhere else doing something else.
Even when they find someone to fill the moderators chair on Meet The Press, it will still feel empty to me without Tim Russert there. He was one of a kind, and while I never met him, I will miss seeing him every Sunday morning.
