Here’s the lowdown on what’s happening on BlowUpRadio.com:

As always, Lazlo’s Den will also do ‘New Music Tuesday’, and continue the ‘CD Library Project’, and beginning this week, every Thursday night we’ll give you a preview of shows happening over the weekend in the NJ/NYC area.

Last month two new radio shows (“Your Friends & Neighbors”, and “Rock N Roll Gas Station”) began airing on BlowUpRadio.com
And next month we’re debuting a new live show…

‘The BlowUpRadio.com Guitar Pull’
A guitar pull is an informal get-together of songwriters. They play songs, test new material on each other, sometimes play each others’ songs, and party.
The BlowUpRadio.com Guitar Pull will seek to continue that tradition, keeping a laid back vibe, with 3 songwriters playing songs and chatting. I will be there as a sort of relaxed moderator.
The BGP is a rare insight into what happens when singer-songwriters are hanging out together. The show will air live, generally on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, hopefully on a monthly basis (possible more or less frequently).
The premiere of The BlowUpRadio.com Guitar Pull will happen at 3pm ET on Sunday April 19th, and I could not be more excited about the line-up:
Joshua Van Ness
Jonathan Andrew
Nick Ferriero
So mark your calendar now for what is going to be an incredible afternoon.

This Saturday, one of my favorite places to eat has three of my favorite local solo artists performing. Twisted Tree Cafe in Asbury Park is the place, and Joshua Van Ness, Jonathan Andrew, and Jon Dacks are the three performers. Folk rock and fun will ensue. You should be there. And while you're there, try Twisted Tree's veggie melt, it's awesome!

Asbury Park favorite Anthony Fiumano brings his homespun alt-country to Hoboken for this weeknight headlining gig.

My pick for the week takes place Saturday night at the Saint in Asbury Park with Pete Francis, Barefoot Truth, Under New Ownership, and Alex Brumel and Janel Elizabeth. Alex and Janel have been putting on some incredible shows lately; if you liked The Swell Season with Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, you should check out Alex and Janel. They provide the same kind of powerful live experience.

And now for a quick Pissed Off!
I rarely go to the movies these days, but being a fan of the Watchmen graphic novel, I had to go see what the film version would end up like. While there was a lot they cut, mostly subplots and character development that was extraneous to the main story but fascinating nonetheless, and some other things changed, I overall feel the cast & crew did a good job of the film. It may not be a 4 star film, but definitely 3 or 3 & ˝ in my book.
However, one of the reasons I don’t enjoy going to the movies are the assholes in the audience. I went to an early matinee to try to avoid a big crowd, and yet there was a couple sitting behind me that periodically were talking to each other trying to explain what was going on. Look, if you don’t understand the film maybe you should go see something less taxing on the brain, like say the Jonas Brothers in 3-D…wait, scratch that, if you need to talk during a film and get an explanation of the film from someone else, you probably wouldn’t understand how to use the 3-D glasses.
OK, I exaggerate a bit, but seriously, you are in a theater where other people are trying to watch the film, SHUT THE FUCK UP!
As if that wasn’t bad enough, in front of me was a guy who was clearly bored by the film because he kept sending text messages. This wouldn’t have bothered me, except he was sitting one row up, just to my left and his illuminated screen was a huge distraction. He may as well of just flashed a flashlight. Come on!
It’s no wonder I generally wait for a movie to hit DVD. It’s much better to watch a film in my home where I can make sure there are no assholes to distract me.
