Hey Everyone,

Big thanks to Dr. Void & The Death Machines, Happy Joe, and Mike Ferraro, as well as everyone who made it down to Buddie’s Tavern last Saturday for BlowUpRadio.com’s Free Concert

We’re taking a few months off from the concert series as we plan Banding Together (more on that below), but we will be back in November for BlowUpRadio.com’s 12th Anniversary Bash!

Buddie's Tavern is located at 277 Johnsons Lane, Parlin (Sayreville), NJ

The dates are set!

This year’s BANDING TOGETHER – A BENEFIT WEBATHON FOR THE SPONDYLITIS ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA will air on BlowUpRadio.com October 19th thru 21st.

Over 60 bands are already signed up to perform live during the webathon as we try to raise money to a cause near and dear to me (my wife suffers from ankylosing spondylitis). If you are a musician and want to be involved, e-mail me. We would love to have even more bands involved!

We’ll have more info as we get closer to October.

ABOUT SPONDYLITIS (from http://www.spondylitis.org)
Spondylitis (pronounced spon-d-lie-tiss) is the name given to a group of chronic or long lasting diseases. These diseases are forms of inflammatory arthritis that primarily affect the spine, although other joints and organs can become involved. Spondylitis, unlike many other rheumatic (arthritic) conditions, affects young adults and commonly begins before the age of 35. Prominent researchers have stated that AS affects at least 1 in every 200 adults (approximately 0.5%) making it as common as rheumatoid arthritis.
Although there is currently no known cure, there is much you can do to educate yourself regarding Spondylitis and its treatments. There have been significant advancements in medical treatments during recent years and there are treatment options for those afflicted that can reduce the pain and symptoms of Spondylitis.

Back in the 70's through the late 80's, hook laden hard rock music cut through the airwaves with their heavy riffs, and catchy choruses. These days however, there are several bands that make that type of music in an ironic, or as a parody of the past, but not a lot of bands that do it well without tongue firmly implanted in cheek. Enter THE TREATMENT, with their new album, "THIS MIGHT HURT". They appear to take hard rock music seriously and boy do they do it well. No hair metal here either, as they deftly avoid cheesy power ballads (the one acoustic song on the album sounds more like acoustic Led Zep, then any hair band). In the 70's or 80's these guys would be considered hard rock gods, but now they must settle for being the opening act for Kiss and Motley Crue this summer.

MARILYN MANSON is back with a new, and for the first time in a while, inspired album, "BORN VILLAIN". It has been a long time since Marilyn Manson put out, "mechanical animals", which to me was his high water mark. Every album since then has seemed like a parody of himself. There was a lot of rumors leading up to the release of this new album. Was he going more mainstream? Was he going punk? I had heard those, and others for the last year or two. "Born Villain" is neither of those things, nor is it a retread of the riff heavy industrial rock anthems that made him famous. Don't get me wrong, this is clearly still a Marilyn Manson, but instead of being an "antichrist superstar" you could call this his "mellon coliie and the infinite madness".

SLIGHTLY STOOPID have long been revered for blending punk, ska, with more traditional reggae, and hip hop, but on their latest album, “TOP OF THE WORLD”, they have gone mellow (except for a very short hidden track which is loud & rocking), but not in a bad way. These are some of the most relaxing and fun reggae based hip-hop and ska infused songs I’ve heard in a long time. After a long day, this album is what I want to kick back & relax with and watch the sun go down into night. For those interested, there are lots of guests on the album, most notably Angelo Moore, and G. Love, and there is a wonderful reimagining of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m on fire”.

I Have long been a fan of ARLAN FEILES’ music. He is a consummate singer-songwriter, with a voice that has a special worn quality to it that is mesmerizing as he weaves his musical tales. On his latest album, “WEEDS KILL THE WILD FLOWERS”, he is billed as ARLAN FEILES AND THE BROKEN HEARTED, and this new back-up band seems to have brought out a more upbeat, rock, side to his rootsy-folk. The combination of rock and folk makes this album a masterpiece! There is a good chance this album will be high up on my list of top albums of 2012. Oh, and Guided By Voices fans take note that Bob Pollard did the album cover art work.
