Closer to Home - "Good Days"

Bandcamp

"Good Days" by northwestern New Jersey folk duo Closer to Home, captures our innocence with its youthful meanderings and clever wordplay. What happens when two of our states best kept secrets(Emily Barnes and Mike Herz) join forces from their regular gig as respected solo singer-songwriters? More beautiful songs of course, but the chemistry and tone invoked in this track is a mesmerizing trip down a dirt road that I’ll gladly travel.

Emily-“Good Days was written during the process of recording my first full length album in Mike's living room. We were getting a little tired of so much time spent indoors and started reminiscing of my childhood in Maine. I plucked a simple four chord melody and began to sing and Mike joined in. Within 20 minutes or so we had what looked like the most nostalgic song we had penned to date and it was a beautiful journey through moments we spent as kids melded with the beauties we still found and held dear through our adult years as well. To date I think I can speak for both Mike and myself when I say it is truly our favorite song to sing, especially on the darker days”.
