Outliers & Cold Fires: Caroline Reese and the Drifting Fifth

Back in 2014, I was fortunate to catch Caroline Reese and the Drifting Fifth perform their brand of Americana meets indie music. I was instantly drawn into Caroline's song-craft,vocal timber and Mark Watter’s guitar colors. Since then, the band has toured nationally, sharing stories and performing with artists such as, Brandi Carlile and Chris Stapleton. On their latest single “Snake Eyes”, Caroline gambles with cleverly written prose and pop production, successfully shinning a light on a bright road ahead.

"As a primarily folk-rock/americana songwriter, I was worried about bringing this song to the band. It felt too pop. But they liked it and we toured on it for a year or so, and when the time came to record it we decided to give it the full glittery Killers treatment that I was hearing in my head. We released it as the first single to our upcoming album on September 7th, and it feels so good to have it in the world at long last." -Caroline Reese
