Last week I said I would have a big announcement, well here it is:
I was watching a PBS documentary the other week on the history of FM radio. I'm sure some of you didn't know that until the mid 60's FM radio was not widely used, AM radio was where most music stations broadcasted from. When FM radio started broadcasting music in the mid to late 60's most of the DJ's were given the freedom to do pretty much what they wanted and play what they wanted. It was a free form radio revolution. Of course by the late 70's/early 80's, companies realized they could make a lot of money off of FM radio and hence the watered down commercialized crap we have now, where it doesn't matter where you go on the dial you are going to hear the same songs. DJ's have no freedom to play what they want these days and are barely allowed to say what they want in a lot of cases, I know as I spent 5 years at a commerical radio station.
It's also why I started BlowUpRadio.com, to free myself from the shackles of conformist radio which not only didn't give me the freedom to play music I liked, but also didn't seem to think that anyone would care to listen to local unsigned bands. Well I am here to tell you that the 1000 plus people on this e-mail list proves that wrong!
But I realized that by focusing strictly on NJ bands I am in a way narrowcasting in the same way commercial radio is.
Enter Lazlo's Den
As many of you know Lazlo's Den has been a show on BlowUpRadio.com since October 20th of last year and is dedicated to playing good music, plain and simple. No playlists, No focus groups, No narrowcasting, NO B.S. Lazlo's Den is a free form radio revolution playing indie artists from around the globe next to unknown major label artists and cool lesser known songs by more well known artists. Basically it's about making radio fun and free again.
Tired of hearing the same songs by the same bands that all sound the same to the point where you can't even tell which band you are listening to anymore?
Tired of hearing only one type of music on any given station?
Are you just tired of commercial radio to the point of only listening to CDs instead?
Well within the next couple of weeks Lazlo's Den will be a fully functional webcast of it's own to break the confines of conformist radio and usher in a new radio revolution!
You can check out the front page of the new Lazlo's Den website at www.LazlosDen.com.
Another e-mail will go out as soon as the webcast and website is fully up and running to expand your minds with it's auditory resonance.
Fear not people, for BlowUpRadio.com is not going anywhere. It will still be here for all your NJ rock needs! In addtion, NJ bands will be interspersed into the Lazlo's Den webcast.
Now you'll have 2 great stations to choose from:
BlowUpRadio.com ~ Where NJ Rock Lives
