Hey Everyone, Three big things to talk about this week: 1. This Friday marks the first co-sponsored show by BlowUpRadio.com and Upstage Magazine. This is the show that was supposed to happen a few weeks ago when we got the blizzard of '05. As I'm writting this the forecast is decent for Friday...let's hope it stays that way. Here's all the deatils on the show: & presents This Friday, February 11th 124 Church St New Brunswick 9:30pm featuring: Tall Days is a mix of bluesy-rock n roll. They took their name from the "Tall Days" parties that Black Crowes fans throw. The last time they played a BlowUpRadio.com show at the Court they blew everyone away with their live set. Need to know more? Check out their Band Profile The Bastards of Melody's bio says, "The Bastards rock. What else do you need to know?", and that pretty much sums them up. For those who want to know more, they are an awesome garage rock band with a Replacements meets Cheap Trick type of sound, and they have a song named, "fuck waking up", what's not to like about that? "The Marbles played their first official show way back in 1984.The band was formed by its’ guitarist, singer and songwriter Mike Grau. The Marbles are and always have been a three piece, a power trio. The Marbles have always loved what they do and refuse to stop while that feeling is alive." "what about frank? is a rock n' roll band. we are youthful in our attempts to make music not resembling the sounds of orthodox radio. Instead, we try to make noise as crap-free as possible...you decide." Please come out and help support the local scene and make it possible for us to do more co-sponsored shows in the future. Remember, Gary at Upstage Magazine and myself don't set up shows to make lots of money or anything like that, we do it because we are both committed in our own way to making the scene stronger. 2. Ther are a couple of new things on the main page of our site. The first of which is a small rotating banner ad near the top. It looks like this: Now, before anyone can say that we "sold out", there are no plans to go ad crazy or start having ads up for non-music related things. We are however willing to accept a few music related ads in order to try to cover the increasing costs of running BlowUpRadio.com. The ads are very inexpensive and great for bands trying to promote their album or a show. you can contact me at Lazlo@BlowUpRadio.com for more info. 3. The other thing on the main page of our site is this: That's right folks, BlowUpRadio.com's Album of the Week returns next week! Each week we will spotlight a new album by putting the entire album into our regular rotation, and as an added bonus you'll be able to download an MP3 of one track from the CD. We'll also give you some info on the band/artist, and a link to their website. BlowUpRadio.com, always trying to do more to support the local music scene. One last note, for those wondering about the return of Folk You!, I am happy to report there will be not just one, but two Folk You! shows in March! We'll give you all the info really soon, but suffice it to say Folk You! is coming back and will be better than ever! Peace, Lazlo |
