Message From Lazlo

Hey Everyone,

So this is it! This Saturday is the return of Folk You! Here's all the info:

BlowUpRadio.com presents "Folk You!"

Saturday March 5th - 8pm

SICA
20 Third Avenue
Long Branch, NJ 07740

featuring
Michael Ferentino
jpat
Jon Caspi
Tony Tedesco

It was 2 years ago that BlowUpRadio.com started doing "Folk You!" shows in Hoboken, NJ, bringing the best in local singer/songwriters into intimate, artistic settings.

After watching 2 Hoboken venues close in a matter of months, BlowUpRadio.com was looking for a new home for it's popular acoustic music series, and found the perfect place in The Shore Institute of Contemporary Artists (or SICA).

"It's really the perfect place, as 'Folk You!' has always been about the mixture of graphic art (painting, sculptures, etc) and the artistry of music", says BlowUpRadio.com's Lazlo.

The Shore Institute of the Contemporary Arts (SICA) is a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to establish a uniquely stimulating and creative environment in which to experience the contemporary arts.

"SICA is also a great place to move "Folk You!" because it allows for the show to be all ages, and to those who like earlier shows, the show will be done by 11pm, which is also still early enough for those who want to go hit a bar in nearby Asbury Park right after."

"Folk You!" will feature solo acoustic sets from four amazing local artists.

Michael Ferentino - A classically trained musician, raised on a steady diet of The Beatles, 70s soul and R&B, Ferentino has spent his life exploring and creating music. A lifelong obsession of sorts, he first picked up the guitar at the tender age of 6, and began writing songs when he was only 9. As of 2004, he has recorded over 750 of his original songs and soundscapes. Performing in legendary NY clubs in his early teens, Michael’s first major label release came in the form of Love In Reverse – a progressive electronic band signed to Reprise/Warner Brothers Records. Subsequent albums followed under the new lineup and moniker of The Amazing Meet Project. His work in The Amazing Meet Project abandoned the industrial signature of Love In Reverse, and focused on acoustic, melodic pop songs. Michael’s music has been featured on MTV’s Road Rules and he was also tapped by Kevin Smith to score the Vincent Pereira film, “A Better Place”. His tracks have been lauded from the shores of his native New Jersey, to British music Bible Q Magazine.

jpat - jpat is a singer/songwriter, harmonica player, strummer of guitars and mandolins, an open mic host, a writer, and a sometime actor. A mainstay of the "New Asbury Park" scene, he's made lot's of music at the Stone Pony, the Saint, Harry's Roadhouse, and at the El Lobo Negro Art Gallery. He has been lucky enough to perform in many different settings ranging from sideman to frontman, ensemble member to lead actor, and solo artist to performance artist, all over the U.S. and throughout Europe. Aside from playing solo, jpat has spent his time performing with the Josh Zandman Trio, Secret Sound, Virginia, King Famous, Mimi Cross, ride, Jared Kessler, Mani Pura, Nicole Atkins and the Smokin J's among countless others.

Tony Tedesco - A poet, a songwriter and a musician who blends all of those things into his live show. He's looking to start a band so come out and hear his solo tracks and discover why if you're a musician you'll want to be in his band, and if you're not you'll want to take up an instrument so you can join his band.

Jon Caspi - Jon Caspi has been a mainstay in the NJ music scene. He has been the lead voice and songwriter for nationally successful acts such as Bouncing Off Bob and Boss Gremlin, had his music featured on radio stations across the U.S, in films, and on MTV. Now, a resident of Monmouth County, NJ, Jon has been primarily involved in the great local scene. His new CD, This Town, was officially released in last month.

So come out and celebrate the return of Folk You! this Saturday!

And one more plug, Thursday night at D.C's Tavern, 505 8th St. Hoboken, Jersey Beat (and regular Concert Pick coorespondant), Jim Testa, will be making his world debut as a club DJ. Jim knows his music so there is sure to be an awesome selection of tunes. So if you're in the area check it out.

Peace,
Lazlo
