Message From Lazlo

Hi Everyone,

Wow, it's almost April already, where did the last few months go? LOL!

Yeah, things have been pretty busy for me lately. Keeping up with updates to BlowUpRadio.com, Lazlo's Den, and listening to the plethora of new music I've been getting for both, mixed with a day job, a family life, and trying to make it to as many shows as possible, keeps me pretty busy...and I wouldn't have it any other way!

This Saturday is just one more of those live shows that keep me busy, as BlowUpRadio.com is proud to present an evening of music at Kroghs (23 White Deer Plaza,Sparta, NJ). This free show will feature a set by Echofission, who you heard me rave about in last week's newsletter, and 2 sets from the always rocking Souls' Release.

This is a going to be a great show, at a very cool venue, that is well worth the drive to for the combo of great music, food and drinks (they are a microbreweery and have an incredible maritini menu).

Hope to see you at Kroghs this Saturday...and no, the show is not an April Fool's Joke :)

~~~~~~~~~~
People who want to read my review on some non-NJ band related shows I've seen lately can check out my My Space Lazlo's Den blog for reviews of recent shows by B.B. King, Cowboy Mouth, and Rhett Miller.
~~~~~~~~~~

These last two things are for NJ bands (or people who know NJ bands who want to pass the info along to them).

The Black River Music Festival that I mentioned in this newsletter several weeks ago, now has it's own website at www.blackrivermusicfest.com. Bands looking to be part of the fest taking place on August 19th, should go to the website now to fill out the application. Deadline is April 15th.

And my friend Mick Chorba, who runs the indie label, Face Down Records is setting up a new compilation CD and looking for submissions.

ABOUT A GIRL - NJ indie label FDR (www.facedown.net) is well know for a string of highly successful compilation CDs including tributes to The Who and the Replacements and their newest comp - High School Reunion, featuring songs from 80s teen movies. FDR comp CDs have featured such artists as Guided By Voices, Matthew Sweet, The Dresden Dolls, Pat Dinizio, Frank Black and Kristen Hersh. The label is currently compiling tracks for a new tribute CD titled ABOUT A GIRL. The CD will exclusively feature current bands covering songs with a girl's first name in the title and chorus. We're hoping to span the history of rock n roll with this one. Please contact me (Mick Chorba - fdrlabel@verizon.net) if you're interested in submitting a song. Look for a release late in '06 - submission dealine is set for August '06.

Support local live original rock!

Peace,
Lazlo

Brian Fitzpatrick - 'further down the line'

The youngest of four brothers, Brian Fitzpatrick was born in Holliston, MA and grew up in New Jersey, where he still resides. He embraced music at an early age and, influenced by such legendary artists as The Who, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Jackson Browne, was already playing guitar and writing his own introspective, character-driven songs by age 11. Being Irish, theres a long lineage of storytelling I associate with my grandfather and down the line, Fitzpatrick has said. So, the most interesting thing for me has always been songwriting and storytelling more than playing guitar or being a rock star....
