Lazlo's Top 20 Albums of 2006
2006 is coming to a close, and I was asked by my friends at Upstage Magazine to compile my top 20 albums of the year. I hate doing these things, for several reasons ...(more)

I am Time magazine's person of the year!
Wow, what a week! First BlowUpRadio.com celebrates it's 6th anniversary, and now Time Magazine names me Person of the Year! Ok, so that's not exactly true, they named all of us who, "control the Information Age", through the use of the World Wide Web. ...(more)

Alex Brumel: "the next big thing" from NJ? For me there is nothing like that feeling of witnessing a stellar performance by a rising star, and just feeling lucky to have seen the performance in a small venue before the artist breaks into the big time. Living in NJ, where there seems to be something in the water that makes good musicians, this feeling happens pretty regularly. Unfortunately, most of the rising stars I see end up toiling around the NJ music scene, playing stellar performances night after the night for small audiences, and never getting noticed, or worse, getting noticed by a major label, and then getting screwed by the label...(more)

Album of the Month
Wiser Time
"there ands back again"

Wiser Time originated in the small town of Millington, NJ by singer/songwriter/guitarist, Carmen Sclafani in the spring of 2002. Sclafani had been a fixture in the local music scene, performing in bars and clubs during the evenings, while working as a commercial artist during the days. He had been performing with various incarnations under the Wiser Time moniker when he came across music veteran/producer/guitarist, Anthony Krizan (Spin Doctors, Lenny Kravitz, John Waite), performing at a local club.

Message From Lazlo

Hi Everyone,

Lots of news this week!

BlowUpRadio.com is proud to announce that we've opened a Chat Room on our site.

I'd love for this room to become a place for open discussion on the local music scene and music in general. I hope you'll stop by and hang out and chat. I hope you will not use it as a place to spout hatred towards any band or person, because that is not what the Chat Room, or BlowUpRadio.com is about. We're all friends.

And as a way of opening the door to the Chat Room for all, beginning tonight at 8pm, the Chat Room will host The Monday Night Chat Session. This will be a chance for musicians and music fans to talk about various things relating to the scene (good venues vs. bad, good places to get the word out about shows, etc...if you have a topic idea, e-mail me it).

So Stop by the Chat Room tonight (Monday) at 8pm for The Monday Night Chat Session.

And last, but by no means least, over the weekend Dave Mac, host of "Box of Blues" on 90.5 the Night, passed away. Back in the late 90's Dave worked at the same commercial radio station I did, and he was one of the few people there that I truly enjoyed talking to. He was a great guy, and a huge fan of good music, especially the blues. Sadly, other then hearing him on 90.5 every Sunday, I had lost touch with him long ago. Now I'll never have the chance to catch up with him. Goodbye Dave. The world is going to be a little bluer without you around.

You can read more about Dave Mac at WBJB.org

Tune into Lazlo's Den tonight to hear an hour of blues in memory of Dave.

Peace,
Lazlo
