Supporting New Jersey's Local Music Scene Since 2000

Album of the Month
Citizens Band Radio - "CBR"

Earlier this year I gave a glowing review to a 3 song EP that I received from New Jersey's Citizens Band Radio. Those three songs begin their brand new full length CD, "CBR". On it, they continue to blend bluegrass, mountain music, classic country, and southern rock into something beautiful. Pedal steel guitar and mandolin mixes with twangy vocals, and songs with classic country type titles like, "ole Kentucky whiskey blues", "my ramblin ways", and, "band of outlaws". Fans of artists like Merle Haggard, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Jayhawks, Old Crow Medicine Show, Warren Haynes, and even the Grateful Dead, will all likely find something on this CD that they will enjoy. "18 wheels" even sounds like a country infused gospel song. Citizens Band Radio may not save your soul, but they can certainly move it with their fine debut album.

Message From Lazlo

Hi Everyone,

Lot's to talk about this week.

First up, look for an e-mail announcement this week on the new & improved BlowUpRadio.com Webcast!

~~~~~~~~~~
Three traditions happen this week, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and BlowUpRadio.com's post-Thanksgiving concert. This Saturday check out another BlowUpRadio.com Free show at Buddie's Tavern in Parlin (Sayreville). Featuring Citizens Band Radio, who happen to have the album of the month here at BlowUpRadio.com, Dakota Bends (featuring former members of Sunday All Stars), and Thomas Martin. This is going to be a great night of alt-country, roots rock!
And don't forget that Friday December 7th BlowUpRadio.com's 7th Anniversary Bash! comes to Buddie's Tavern, featuring sets by Zigman Bird, The Heshers, double-breasted, and Nick Ferriero (from Souls Release) & Friends.
~~~~~~~~~~

On the Lazlo's Den front, as I mentioned last week, Gary Wien, the man behind Upstage Radio, has brought everything back to where it all began for him with AsburyMusic.com. This means that now Lazlo's Den airs every Monday through Friday on both BlowUpRadio.com & AsburyMusic.com.

In addition, AsburyMusic.com is re-airing all 5 weekday shows back to back every Saturday beginning at 12 noon. So now you can catch up on a whole week's worth of shows in one 5 hour block.

~~~~~~~~~~
And while I'm mentioning Gary and AsburyMusic.com, congrats to them and all the other winners of the Asbury Music Awards that happened at the Stone Pony over the weekend. I am proud to say that BlowUpRadio.com is Loser of 3 Asbury Music Awards! Yes! LOL! I lose every year, and it really doesn't bother me (except that I feel like Susan Lucci). When you lose out to AsburyMusic.com, who besides being a good friend is also one of the homes of Lazlo's Den, and 90.5 the Night, the only radio station in the area that I can listen to for more than a few songs without getting sick to my stomach, there's nothing to feel bad about.
Besides, as I always say about the Asbury Music Awards, it's not about winning or losing (although it is nice to win I'm sure), it's about one night where the local music scene gets together and hangs out. I got to see a lot of friends at the AMA's, many of whom I don't get to see enough. therefore, I wish there were more opportunities for everyone to get together and hang out and watch a nice evening of music and fun.
Like say Saturday at Buddie's Tavern.
And then Buddie's Tavern again on Dec. 7th.
Just a thought :)
