Pissed Off!

As many of you know I am not a fan of cover bands. If I want to hear The Beatles I’ll put on a Beatles album. If I want to hear Bruce Springsteen…well you know where I’m going with this.

However, it’s always nice to see a local artist put their own spin on someone else’s song, and that’s just what Twisted Covers has been doing at Twisted Tree Café, while also allowing them to showcase their original tunes.

Sadly, Twisted Covers is coming to an end.

Here’s what Twisted Covers creator Gary Wien has written about the end of this venerable concert series:

After three years, Twisted Covers will be coming to a close on Sunday, August 30. The show, which features local artists performing covers of a featured artists as well as their own original songs, has been a fan favorite at the Twisted Tree Cafe since debuting with a spotlight on The Rolling Stones in the summer of 2007. The final show is dedicated to the owner of the cafe - Clark Mitchell - for his support of local artists. We'll be spotlighting songs from one of Clark's favorite bands - The Grateful Dead.

If you are interested in being part of the final show, please sign up at http://www.TwistedCovers.com The show starts at 5pm and generally runs until 9pm, but we are expecting this show to go a little later.

Loosely based on the "Loser's Lounge" shows, Twisted Covers offers artists two covers of the spotlighted artist and one original song. Admission is free and the cafe is BYOB. The Twisted Tree is a small venue, so seats and tables are at a premium. Come early to guarantee a seat.

That's all for this week folks.

Peace,
Lazlo
