Newsletter 7-5-10

Hey Everyone,

Hope everyone had a great Independence Day weekend!

I hope you all remembered what this weekend was really about, which is what team is going to get Kovalchuk in the sweepstakes.

Just kidding.

Seriously, each time at this time of the year I like to re-read the Declaration of Independence. Here’s the link in case you are so inclined.

Of course BlowUpRadio.com made it’s own declaration of independent music nearly 10 years (I know it’s a cheesy segue, but just go with it).

Here’s what I wrote when I started BlowUpRadio.com:

~

Established on December 15th, 2000 by Lazlo, BlowUpRadio.com sought to be a refuge for people, tired of mainstream radio's refusal to regularly play New Jersey musicians.

Some NJ (and even NYC?!?!?) stations claim to be "Jersey's Rock Radio", but their idea of "Jersey rock" is playing an occasional Bruce Springsteen or Bon Jovi song.

We all know New Jersey's rock scene is more than two good bands. There are thousands of good NJ bands that deserve radio attention.

That's why BlowUpRadio.com plays homegrown music from the Garden State 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

~

Over the years BlowUpRadio.com, as some have pointed out, has grown and changed.

We’ve added shows during prime time and on weekends (Lazlo’s Den, Rock N Roll Gas Station, The Weekend Mix-Up!, etc.), that as well as showcasing NJ bands, plays bands from anywhere in the world.

We’ve added reviews of albums and concerts by bands from outside the Garden State, as well as free MP3 downloads, music news, music videos, and concert listings.

But BlowUpRadio.com has always been dedicated to the local indie music scene in NJ. Our daily broadcast is still over 20 hours of NJ music, and concert listings, reviews, free MP3s, etc, are still dominated by NJ bands.

And BlowUpRadio.com is always open to new ideas. Got one? E-mail me.

~~~
BlowUpRadio.com is looking for people interested in reviewing albums and concerts for the site.
There’s always so much going on and as much as I’d love to review it all, I can’t do it alone.
If you’re interested in writing reviews for the site, e-mail me.
The Next BlowUpRadio.com Free Concert Series show at Buddie’s Tavern (277 Johnsons Lane, Parlin (Sayreville), NJ), will be on Saturday July 24th and feature the return of BASTARDS OF MELODY, along with the amazing bands THE TEA & WHISKEY, and THE SUCCESSFUL FAILURES!
Concert Picks Of The Week
Lazlo (BlowUpRadio.com)
Friday marks the end of an era for Hero Pattern as they play their final show at Maxwell's in Hoboken. Hero Pattern were always a great rock band and I'm sure this show is going to be an electrifying finale for them. Also on the bill is The Milwaukees, and Alchemy & The Queen, and all proceeds from the show goes to the Dan Duggins Fund.
PISSED OFF!
Dear Ilya Kovalchuk,
Just pick a team already. This is ridiculous!
Of course, I do understand he may have picked a team and is just waiting for said team to make a trade to remove a high priced player or two to get under the salary cap. If that's the case, then make it happen Lou :)
That's all for this week folks.
Peace,
Lazlo
