Newsletter 8-30-10

Hey Everyone,

A quick update this week, because I'm busy working on something that is taking much more time than I thought it would, but will be incredible when it's ready.

And that something is...

BlowUpRadio.com - The First Ten Years 2000-2010

A digital release box set with over 100 songs by some of the best NJ bands that BlowUpRadio.com has been playing over the last 10 years. It is by no means complete, there were many bands I couldn't track down or get approval to use their songs, but the 107 tracks (over 6 hours of music) that will make up this box set are some of my favorite songs that I hand picked to be in the collection.

So how will you be able to get a copy?

Any donation made during Banding Together benefit webathon for the Spondylitis Association of America October 16th - 18th will get you a download of the entire box set. Yes, we'd like you to donate as much as you can, but we do understand times are hard and money is tight, so we are setting the minimum donation as low as the Spondylitis Association Of America can ($5).

A full track listing will be posted soon.

Concert Picks Of The Week

~

Lazlo (BlowUpRadio.com)

Two picks this week
Saturday night at Borgata in Atlantic City, 90's NJ jam band From Good Homes reunites for what is sure to be an exciting night.
Then on Sunday, check out the Paramount Sessions, a free all day concert on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, followed by a free evening show at the Paramount Theatre. Lots of great NJ bands are a part of this, so support local music and check it out.

~

Jim Testa (Jersey Beat)

Thursday, September 2
THE PIER SESSIONS - Black Water, They Had Faces Then, Greg Smith & Broken English, Mike Frensley, Nicole Lichert - 1301 Sinatra Drive, Hoboken - 6 pm, no cover, all ages

I don't know much about the other bands but Jersey City's Black Water play wildly frenetic and highly entertaining post-punk and hey, it's a free show on the water on a beautiful end-of-summer night. What more could you ask for?

~

Danny Coleman (Rock On Radio)

This week's pick is taken from a facebook post; here it is: On Sunday, September 5, 2010, Labor Day Weekend, The Paramount Theater and The Asbury Park Boardwalk will come alive with "The Paramount Sessions" - A Celebration of The Asbury Park Music Scene. Local Artists Rick Barry, Jerzy Jung, and Outside The Box with be performing on the legendary stage of the Paramount Theater! I will be performing as a member of the ITTY BITTY BAND w/ JO WYMER as we kick off the entire day at the 4th Ave. Greenspace at 11am. "The Paramount Sessions will be an all day event as there will be music all day up and down the magical boards in Asbury Park with many local artists playing on the boardwalks "green Spaces" and at select restaurants and businesses. ROCK ON!

PISSED OFF!

Do I really need to explain why?
