Newsletter 4-29-14

Hey Everyone,

And we’re back!

Sorry there was no newsletter last week (or new Lazlo’s Den much of the week), but we are back now. To make up for no Lazlo’s Den Presents New Music last week, we ran a New Music special last night, and it will run again Friday @ 8pm. You can see the playlist from the show below.

The next BlowUpRadio.com Guitar Pull at Espresso Joe’s is Saturday May 17th and will feature Keith Monacchio, Christian Beach, and Ed Tang, with a special acoustic opening set from The Porchistas!

This will be the last Guitar Pull for a while, as we have some special summer shows planned for outdoors!

The show begins at 7pm sharp, and will end by 10pm, so if you’re looking for an early night out, or a show before another show, this is the show for you. And those of you that have been waiting for BlowUpRadio.com to do an all ages show, this is it!

Plus, Espresso Joe’s has great food, coffee, tea, and other beverages of a refreshing (non-alcoholic) nature. They also recently celebrated their 10th anniversary!

Lazlo’s Corner

I thought I’d use this space today to speak briefly about some of the new albums I have been enjoying.

The Brummy Brothers – on our way
Who knew one of the best bluegrass albums I’ve heard in the last few years would come from a band from central New Jersey. If you are a fan of bluegrass, definitely check this album out!

~

Eels - The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett
The Eels are back, and no exaggeration, this album has the potential to be my album of the year. It is a brilliant album.

~

The Trews - The Trews
Maybe this self-titled album will finally be The Trews breakthrough in America. Already popular in Canada, The Trews write catchy, radio-ready pop-rock with a roots-rock influence.

~

The Generators - life gives-life takes
1 part Bad Religion influence plus 1 part Face to Face influence equals punk rock awesomeness!

~

Corrina, Corrina – american short stories
This album energizes me! Catchy punk rock, like a harder edged, more aggressive version of early Weezer. I like it!

~

Krokus - Long Stick Goes Boom (Live from the House of Rust)
I had no idea Krokus was still around. I expected to get a nostalgic laugh out of this album...but I have to admit I really enjoyed this live album. In another universe Krokus may be as big as AC/DC.

~

Bob Wayne - back to the camper
Hot damn, a real classic country album!

~

Pinky Doodle Poodle - Pinky Doodle Poodle
The minute the Goo Goo Dolls released “iris”, they became rich rock stars no longer making garage rock, and I lost interest in their music. But at least Robby has been putting his money to good use by running the indie label, Good Charamel Records, which puts out a lot of great J-Rock (Japanese rock) albums (most notably, Shonen Knife). Pinky Doodle Poodle’s self-titled debut is a perfect pop-punk album for fans of Japanese bands like Shonen Knife.
