Lazlo's Corner

In next week's Lazlo's Corner I hope to be able to announce the schedule for this year's Banding Together Benefit for the Spondylitis Association Of America, as well as the track listing for the compilation you will get to download as a thank you gift for donating during the webathon.

I say this all the time, but I like apparently like to be repetitive... have I mentioned #SupportGoodMusic lately....

Anyway... I am so thankful to the music scene for always wanting to be involved in this benefit each year. At present we have over 60 acts involved with this year's Banding Together, and that truly means to the world to me.

When my wife was first diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis neither of us had ever heard of it, and I had the damnedest time trying to pronounce it, but musicians were so willing to be involved with our first benefit for the Spondylitis Association of America, that here we are 14 years later with some of the same people still involved, and a host of new artists that were just kids when we started this benefit.

I wish I could articulate better how thankful I am, but often when the emotions swell it becomes harder for me to be able to put it in words.

I suspect this happens to anyone who is dealing with a loved on in a lot of pain... you feel powerless watching, not being able to do much to help... unable to take that pain away, no matter how much you wish you could... on social media I sometimes see people ask "What super power do you wish you had?", and people want to fly, super strength, speed, etc.... a younger me might have wanted one of them, but I wish I had to power to absorb people's pain and illness and make them feel better.

Since super powers don't exist in the real world, I do this benefit every year to feel less powerless, do something that can help the Spondylitis Association Of America, who fund research and advocacy... if... I should say when... they find a cure in a roundabout way I will have a similar end result of having a super power...

Maybe my super power is bringing together so many amazing musicians... a musician version of the Avengers if you will... to help a good cause... does that make me Nick Fury? No, no it does not.

Saying "Thank You" hardly seems like it is enough, so just know there is so much more behind those 2 words than just those 2 words.
