Lazlo's Corner

I've recently realized, as people directly quote Lazlo's Corner in e-mails to me, that people actually read what I write here, which is wonderful... but also kind of terrifying.

Due to my busy life, I put less thought into writing this than I probably should, and it has been a long time since I fancied myself a writer. Which I am sure begs the question, why do you write a weekly "New & Notable" column for if you aren't a writer?

Well first, even if I called myself a writer, I am definitely not a reviewer, not in a traditional sense. I don't actually read a lot of reviews myself, I'd much rather listen to the music and judge for myself. This is why I do the new music shows on Monday & Tuesday nights @ 7pm ET on, to try to let people hear new music and judge for themselves.

Think about your favorite songs, and when you first heard them... that feeling of hearing it for the first time and falling in love with the song and wanting to play the song for everyone and hope they love it as much as you do. That is exactly why I do the new music shows every week.

But not everyone listens to the new music shows, it could be because it airs at an inconvenient time, or any number of other reasons.

That is why I also post the playlist with links to all the artists on, so people can go click on the links and check out the music for themselves, and if they like it, hopefully purchase the music to #SupportGoodMusic.

But not everyone will do that either, again for a number of reasons.

Some people actually prefer to read about music before listening to it, so for them I try to act as hype-man by doing the "New & Notable" column for

If you read it you'll note I write more blurbs than full, detailed reviews, because I'd rather give you just enough info to be interested to hear the music, rather than talk to much about it. The artist can talk about it (and often does in the interviews on, but I would much rather you hear the music than read me blathering on about it (like I am right now about not being a writer... I need an editor LOL)

So listen to our new music shows, or click on the links in the playlists to hear the songs for yourself, or read about it in our "New & Notable" column. The important thing to me is that you check out, and hopefully enjoy, the music.
