Recently I was talking to someone who was surprised when I said that certain songs can make me cry, and that many songs hit me on an emotional level. Certain songs can change my mood from maudlin to cheerful and vice versa.
I put it another way to the same person, that when you're watching a movie and it hits you on an emotional level, pay attention, almost every time there will be music, often in the background, that is being used to elicit that emotion.
The person still wasn't convinced, until several days later he said he was watching Rocky and the second "Gonna Fly Now (Theme from Rocky)" came on he felt "pumped".
That's emotion!
That is the power of music!
