A month or two ago I posted a short poem I had written, and several people replied I should post more of my poetry.
Truth is I don't write much these days...
... but, while out walking this weekend these two came to me
They are not my best work... and they definitely lean silly in the end, but as someone else once famously sang, "I can't not be me, if that's me"

darkness in the soil
grow bitter plants, inner turmoil
but sun shines down, cosmic rays
in the distance, music plays
listen closely to the sounds
as they pulsate through the ground
music pulls the despair from me
pretty soon, I'm smiling
this happy feeling probably won't last
it may be gone pretty fast
but I can get it back, just hit play
down on the ground, I will not stay
'cause, I get knocked down
But I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down
(all apologies to Chumbawumba)

don't rhyme this with frown,
it is lazy
